Kick Boxing Practice by Neeraj Mehta

STATIC vs. DYNAMIC Stretching

STATIC vs. DYNAMIC Stretching
NEERAJ MEHTA

Static stretching, also known as held stretch position, is assumed slowly and held for a
designated period of time (usually 20-30 seconds).  Stretch the muscle to the point where further movement is limited and prevented by its own movement.
It is best if this type of stretching is progressive, as the tension during the first 10-15 seconds of the stretch begins to lessen, stretch forward a little farther until the tension returns.

Dynamic stretching, also known as ballistic stretching, is when a body movement forces a muscle or group of muscles into a series of elongation, one after the other.

The ability to move part of the body quickly or to make rapid and repeated movements (probably not measuring flexibility, but elastic energy) is not recommended due to

Causes of Belly Fat accumulation?

Causes of Belly Fat accumulation

Major causes of belly fat are genetics, slow metabolism, improper digestion, stress, menopause, and excess or bad eating.
Neeraj Mehta, Workshop for Core Blast
Genetics:
There are two body types, pear body shapes (fat accumulation is in the lower parts of the body). In apple shaped body, fat is stored in the abdomen and middle portion of the body. Most people have apple shaped body, because of their genetics. If any of your parents have such body type, then you are at a higher risk of developing belly fat.

Underlying Disease/chronic disease
There are growing numbers of people have underlying medical conditions like Diabetes, Arthritis, Hypertension  Thyroid Disease and hyperlipidemia etc. People end up gaining weight and medical treatment is necessary to help in weight loss or slowing weight gain down.

Stress:
According to researches, belly fat can result from mental and physical stress. When you are under stress, the “cortisol” hormone is released. This hormone stimulates the fat storage around the belly and waist line. When you are stressed, you feel hungry and tend to consume more food, which can lead to rapid weight gain.

Too much Sugar and Salt:
Excess intake of sugar in the diet can not only make you gain weight, but can also affect negatively your overall health and also Impairs the Immune System.
Salt and spicy food gives lot of water retention and bloating to the body, that straight away, increases the waste line.

Skipping meals
Skipping a meal plays a bad roll to increase in fat accumulation. It slows down your metabolism because of lack of calories and nutrients in the body to refuel us.  When you skip a meal, we overeat when the next meal comes.  Food choices are usually affected and portion sizes become very big. In India, there is a fashion of having three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner only. This kind of a diet also can affect your health, because of long break between these big meals. This leads to consuming many calories in one go, make lethargic moods and storing those calories being stored as fat.
Slow metabolism: Basel metabolic rate is a major contributing factor in abdominal fat. The slower the metabolism, slower the rate of calories utilizatation and excess accumulation of fats cells in the body. You can increase BMR with the help of correct and balanced diet according to your “body type” and lifestyle followed by regular exercises.

Improper digestion: improper digestion Over-eating, or eating junk can lead to gases and bloating in the belly or other parts of the body. Late night meals can also interfere with proper digestion of food. Going immediately a meal just before going to bed, increases the risk of fat storage around the abdominal area and lower extremities.
Poor posture: Your belly is considered the most relaxed area and fat accumulation area, in the body. There is no workout for this area happens in comparison to daily physical activity because of the poor body posture can leave you with a paunch or 'pot belly' appearance. The right posture and alignment of the body makes a great difference in your looks and appearance.

Alcoholism: Alcohol decreases the rate of energy released from the body and increases rates of obesity. Calories are too high in alcohol approximately 7 Kcal in 1 gram of alcohol; excess alcoholism often stored around the abdominal area.

Too Much Exercise

Tip: Too Much Exercise

You can’t have such a thing as too much exercise, right? WRONG.
NEERAJ MEHTA

If the exercises injure your body, don’t fit your body type, or don’t help you achieve your fitness goals, you can exercise seven days a week, three hours a day, and you’ll be in worse shape than when you started.

While everyone needs aerobic exercise, fitness exercise, and weight loss exercise, it’s best to make sure your chosen exercise program suits your health and lifestyle.

Don’t perform back to back exercise routines without at least a five-minute break or “cool down” in between, and remember to consume lots of fluids as well as nutrition other than low-carb bars and shakes.

Fitness Myths and Facts

Neeraj Mehta
1. Myth: Fat person has more fat cells in the body?

Fact: The difference between obese people and thin people isn’t the number of fat cells, it’s the size of these cells. You have the same number of fat cells you had as an adolescent. The only difference is that the globules within each cell increases as you store more fat.

2. Myth: One can lose weight just by cutting calories or diet.

Fact: When you lose weight without exercise, you lose both muscle and fat, but when you gain weight without exercise, you gain only fat. It’s much easier to gain fat weight, than it is to gain weight. Dieting or fasting would seem to be the quickest way to lose fat. But for every pound you lose, 60% of muscle and only 40% is fat, so this is not a good idea for losing the weight.

3. Myth: Eating and Training provides energy to muscles.

Facts: Actually muscles require an ample supply of blood during training, since a lot of the pump you experience is form blood swelling up your muscles. But if the digestive system is also using excess amount of blood to digest a big meal, there won’t be enough to go around and your muscle will suffer for it. Training with a full stomach can be a very unpleasant experience. You feel bloated, sluggish and slow and a really hard set can make you feel nauseated. The body metabolizes food at different rates. It takes from 2 to 6 hours for the stomach to empty it contents. Foods rich in carbohydrates digest first followed by protein foods, fatty foods are the last to leave.

4. Myth: We burn fat in the fat-burning zone.

Fact: Fat Burning Zone is 60 -70 % of MHR. The fat-burning zone is a concept that the body burns a greater amount of fat at lower-intensity aerobic exercise than it does at higher intensities. Actually, the body burns a greater percentage of fat at lower intensities than at higher intensities. At lower intensities the body may burn 50 percent of the calories from fat, while at higher intensities it may only burn 35 percent. But at higher intensities you burn way more total calories-and more fat calories overall-than you do at lower intensities. Because time matters a lot, with high intensity you utilizing more calories in short duration, but low intensity takes more time for utilizing calories. And more over in high intensity you use your muscles, for which they require recovery, hence utilize fat, after the session also.

 5. Myth: To get a flat stomach do lots of crunches

Fact: You can have strong abdominal muscles but if there is a layer of fat on top, you won't be able to see a flat, toned stomach. Unfortunately we can't target fat loss in specific areas of the body. To get a toned, flat ab area, reduce the number of calories you consume, do a variety of exercise to burn calories and fat and also can add a variety of core exercises and sprints for shred out fat fast.

6. Myth: Running will boost your metabolic rate than weight training.

Fact: Slow Running can boost your metabolic rate to very low extent, and you can loss muscle mass by doing long distance running. Lack of strength training exercise results in less muscle, followed by reduced metabolic rate, which reduces energy needs and results in more calories stored in fat cells. One gram of muscle requires 7 calories per day to retain in the body, but 1 gram of fat requires only 2 calories to maintain.

7. Myth: Time spent in exercise plays role for result.

Fact: Only Right intensity and right diet will provides better results. You can increase your intensity by cutting down your resting period between the exercises or by increasing numbers of repetition and also by increasing the weight, along with the right combination of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
